KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a naturally occurring tripeptide derived from the C-terminal sequence (positions 11–13) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Research has identified KPV as the minimal active fragment responsible for α-MSH's anti-inflammatory signalling properties, and unlike the full-length hormone, KPV does not exhibit melanocortin receptor agonist activity, making it a unique tool for studying inflammation pathways independently of MC receptor activation. Published studies have investigated KPV's effects on NF-κB nuclear translocation, IL-1β and TNF-α expression in macrophage cell lines, and intestinal epithelial barrier function in Caco-2 monolayer models. Supplied as a >99% purity lyophilised powder (10mg).
